We’ve arrived at 5,200 models on Autocade, after catching up on some more recent Chinese brands. The 5,200th model is a crossover, but at least it’s rather more stylish: the Luxeed R7.
We’ve had the earlier S7 there for a while, and now we’ve completed the Luxeed line-up. In fact, we’ve completed the current line-ups for quite a few brands, including Nio and Li.
Daily page views have come down to the 10,000–16,000 region, so a chunk of those big numbers last year was down to scraping, which we’ve now blocked more successfully with some custom WAF (web application firewall) rules. It’s sad to note this, because the scrapers make a mockery of the million-milestone posts. At least we know that some of the 2023 activity was down to these bots Hoovering up data for lazy tech firms who haven’t the talent to generate original content themselves, and this must be publicly acknowledged, egg on face or not.
This is against our T&Cs, incidentally, which I deem them to have read, just as the tech firms deem us to have read theirs. Now they’ve done something actionable …
The numbers are still respectable being over a myriad a day, and my September prediction that Autocade will reach 40 million during December appears to be coming true. The leaderboard, meanwhile (previous results in parentheses):
Ford Taunus 80 (1) 16,507
Opel Astra J (2) 12,285
Daewoo Winstorm (3) 12,014
Daewoo Lacetti (J300) (9) 11,326

There could be a 2025 Yearbook, incidentally. Watch this space.
