This one, with the Geely Galaxy E8, was rejected due to image quality. It was going to be the cover till about a week before publication. Then we zoomed in 400 per cent on the output and saw the JPEG artefacts. The pixel density was high enough, but those artefacts ruined it. There aren’t many car shots in portrait, for obvious reasons.
The first attempt to replace it. But you can’t really tell much from the grille of the Avatr 12. It could be any premium EV out of China.
I wanted to have potential readers do a double-take when they see the cover, especially those who haven’t seen these models before.
The final cover came soon after—the Avatr 12 is largely unknown in the occident, and makes for an intriguing subject matter.
