Finally, progress with Wix and their fraudulent client

I don’t know if it was the timing of my previous post—or whether this, too, fell into the category of, ‘If you want something done, ask a woman to do it.’

Today I received an email from Elisa at Wix Support announcing that Emerald Sky’s fraudulent post no longer featured my name.

Once again, just as with Facebook’s fake malware scanner, where male tech journalists passed on the story and Wired’s Louise Matsakis didn’t, and with Pando’s Sarah Lacy prepared to call out Uber over sexism and misogyny, it’s taken a woman to see what was what and get something done.

I can confirm that, finally, after many months, Emerald Sky Group’s post—with 11 mentions of my name and how I supposedly endorsed them—has been duly edited.

I approached Emerald Sky on November 7, and they ignored my email.

Google was originally approached as the host identified by Who Hosts This Site?, and they came back to say it was a Wix matter. Wix was approached on December 10. They fenced with me for a few days, preferring to be complicit in fraud. With no resolution in sight, on December 30 I drafted a legal letter but had been too busy to send it. And suddenly, a month after not hearing from Wix, Elisa sorted things out. Finally. I have thanked her in an email.

The other odd one was with a firm in India, which I wrote to yesterday. You might think, ‘Why bother?’ For some strange reason I keep having faith in humanity.

Again it was a post attributing things to me that I never said, and identified both me and Jack Yan & Associates specifically. To my surprise, they did respond to say they would be removing any disinformation. Happily, they have been as good as their word, and while a post still exists at the URL, it deals with how disinformation has been plaguing the web.
