So what’s new? This was exactly where Facebook was heading in the 2010s. Appeasement depending on which way the wind is blowing. Principles? Look elsewhere.

I’ve said for years to simply shut it off. If a site doesn’t comply with your laws, block access to it. Facebook didn’t here when they left eight copies of the March 15 massacre video up a year later. If I hosted eight copies of that video, you can bet my site would be goneburger and I’d have a visit from the police. I’d be charged for distributing an offensive video. Why should this foreigner have any more privilege than someone here?
Those desperate enough to want to use Meta’s products will find a way. Everyone else will find alternatives within a week. Humans always find ways to organize themselves.
Ditto with OnlyKlans and any other unpalatable sites.
Countries already block some sites for illegal content, I imagine, and they deserve to be grouped among them.
