Autocade World: the site of the book of the site

When The Producers—the film with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane—was released, Mel Brooks said it was the film of the musical of the film. Autocade World is the website of the book of the website.

My intro on the site gives the raison d’être, but in a nutshell, the new site initially exists to support customers who have bought the book. If they sign up, right now they can get access to digital versions, both this year’s and last year’s. (While they gave their email addresses, I promised that this would only be to fulfil their order, so it would be unethical to add people to another site without permission.) We’ve had a few sign-ups already, so it seems there is demand. There will never be any sale of your private information from this or any other site we run.

With the launch of the site, it will likely mean we’ll stop posting to our Facebook page, and we’ve asked users—the few human ones, anyway—to sign up at the new place. I know the conversion rate is likely to be very low—it’s why Facebook wields so much power, because people feel it’s hard to move—but I believe the second half of the 2020s is going to see a rise of the independent, non-Big Tech web. And we are here for it.

We won’t do a formal launch just yet, not till we get a few more articles there, maybe one from the 2024 yearbook, so people become familiar with that to expect.

We do have plans for Autocade World—I may have alluded to the site already on this blog, and I even referenced it in Year of Cars 2025—but I’ll leave that till later. For now, enjoy a sneak preview of the website at autocade.world.
